OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Baldwin First United Methodist Church proclaims the love of God, the lordship of Jesus Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit through worship, education, and service.
OUR CORE VALUES
As a community of faith, we seek to:
- PROCLAIM the love, forgiveness, and grace offered by God through Jesus Christ.
- LIVE as people open to the power of the Holy Spirit who brings forth that power and love for God and neighbor in us as we continue to be filled by the Spirit.
- STRENGTHEN ourselves through worship, private and public prayer, and in nurturing relationships with fellow Christians.
- GROW in knowledge and love of God through biblical study with commitment to Christian education for all.
- SERVE as part of the compassionate "Body of Christ" responding to all human need.
- LOVE one another as Christ has loved us; and, in particular, to reach out to those not connected to the Church.
- EMBRACE with passion the global mission of the church to bring healing wherever poverty and suffering exist.
- HONOR God through wise stewardship of our time, abilities and material resources; the biblical guideline of the tithe (first 10%) being the standard to which we strive.
- WITNESS to the world with boldness and compassion so that we continue to make new disciples of Christ in obedience to his great commission (Matt. 28:18-20).
- You must take a step forward in faith and receive the sacrifice that Jesus made upon the cross for the whole world as having been made also for you. You need to invite him into your life praying something like this: Jesus, thank you for giving your life upon the cross for me. I am sorry for my sins. With your help, I now repent of them and turn away from them. Come into my heart. Be the Lord of my life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit that I might follow you from this day forward. The promise of the Bible is that "everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Acts 2:21. When you take this step, not only does Jesus save your life but he transforms it. He will make you a brand new person from the inside out, causing the "old" to disappear and the "new," a person who increasingly resembles him to appear. Please call this church or another near you for help, support, and guidance as you take this step. May God richly bless you in Christ Jesus.
- To be baptized in the Spirit: Remember the words of Jesus in Luke 11:11-13 - "Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" To receive the inward help of the Holy Spirit to help us be transformed from the inside out, to have the power we need and love we need to live this life, simply ask! Jesus said, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink." (John 7:37)
